LRPGG provides undergraduates or postgraduate student opportunities to conduct case study, public survey and social experiment on the economy or governance-related topics. Lien Fellows will take part in the programme design and be appointed as mentor for students. From these activities, students learn to collect and analyze data, write a research paper, and formulate and implement policy. Lien Fellows also could pass on their knowledge and experiences to young generations.

By participating in the LRPGG Social Lab, the awardees may receive rewards such as monetary incentives, publication of their work in reputable academic journals, invitations to academic conferences, and opportunities to collaborate with experts in the field.
Who Can Apply?
• Current undergraduate or postgraduate student enrolled at NTU with an interest in social management, technology governance, or sustainable development etc.
• You can choose to apply individually or in teams of up to three members.
How to Apply?
To enter the programme, submit a research proposal of no more than 1000 words. Your proposal should outline your research topic, objectives, methodology, research schedule, budget, and expected outcomes. We encourage you to explore topics such as
a) Public health and policy, ageing and eldercare policies, strengthening of social fabrics at the time of globalization, etc.
b) Technology governance, AI and ethics, Fintech and policy regulation, etc.
c) Economic recovery and sustainable development, etc.

Timeline
Evaluation and Selection Process
A panel of judges will evaluate all submitted proposals based on criteria such as relevance to the research areas, contribution to Singapore-China collaborations, originality, feasibility, and clarity. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their proposals to the judges.
Presentation of Proposal
Shortlisted applicants will be given a maximum of 20 minutes to present their proposal, which will be followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer session with the judges. The presentation should cover the following aspects:
i. Introduction and background of the research topic
ii. Research questions and objectives
iii. Significance of the research
iv. Methodology and research design
v. Expected outcomes and impact
vi. Limitations of the research
Research execution
All awardees are required to execute their proposed research projects diligently within the designated three-month timeframe.
Award
LRPGG will award up to S$3,000 per research project to the awardees. The allocated funds may be used for manpower, consumables, travel expenses, and other costs associated with the research project.
a) Funding stages
• LRPGG will disburse the approved funding in three stages, with $1,000 awarded for each successful assessment.
b) Funding terms
• The research fund should be used exclusively for the following purposes:
Submission of the final report
The report should be within 7k - 8k word limit, including references. Upon submission of the final report, the awardees will be invited to present their research findings at LRPGG seminars or conferences.
